The promotional image I used for the download page here [link] was alright, but too small to show the details, which owe themselves to the lovely quality of the original textures.
So here she is standing in front of a bunch of radio equipment in my Dad's study, because that's probably the most technical looking part of our house that I could find!
Model made from 160gsm paper, stands ~44cm tall.
With thick enough paper they're pretty strong, my Javik leans forwards too much and has face-planted on the laminate floor from my desk several times without a dent. Under their own weight they're ok, but could still be crushed in accidentally if something really bashed them.
Occasionally I might have to re-glue a finger or hand that comes loose. Only Mordin, who is very gangly is having trouble staying together as time goes by so he's 'retired' to my wardrobe now...
thanks in advance
It's just two tubes linked by a middle 'bridge'. Score and fold the lines I went over in red and curl the sides around to where the red arrows point. The PDO files are a great reference and tab guide: if you're not already using them, I really recommend it.
I don't know whether you're smooth building or not, but scoring and folding all the lines in the hands can make sure all the bits are precisely shaped and in theory fit neatly together (smooth building, while visually better for high poly models creates lots of inaccuracies which can add up).
i'll finish my build tonite and show you the result tomorrow morning,
actually i'm not doing smooth building, since i use lineless pattern and i only score some important lines,
perhaps for next models (which is garrus) i will use lined pattern, and as info i can't open PDO files since my PC was linux,
many thanks bro
btw, do you have any facebook account
PDOs are very useful but sorry I forget sometimes that they're not an option for everyone. I hope future versions of Pepakura have better compatibility.
No sorry I mostly use it for people I know in person these days, don't worry you're not missing anything, I don't post anything about papercrafts there.
and my i ask your opinion? i'm about to build one of your papercraft once again, but i'm still confuse, which one better,
Based on your experience, which one that better,
1. garrus vakarian
3. or mordin?
thanks in advance
but i prefer to built lineless pattern, is it okay?
since i think papercraft look better without line appear on it,
I agree, lineless is the way to go for best quality builds. Lined sheets are there for fold reference and...well some people love to build things with angular pieces.
Awesome! I do the same now!
Actually I blazed through her construction in about 12 days, since there were no major problems (unlike my Mordin model). Though I had less work to do back then admittedly!
I've been building stuff since 2008 so it's all practice I guess, though yes things like the fingers/thumbs are tricky- thank gawd she only has 6! The worst part was the mouthpiece, with the two narrow metal bits either side.
Liara (Lair of the Shadow Broker oufit) might be my next one. I'm currently 'assessing' the model and experimenting with some poses.
